A personal statement is generally the first thing included in an application or part of a CV/resume, and is a brief personal summary given to prospective employers and universities to help the applicant stand apart from their competition. This document should include one’s academic and personal achievements, their interests, hobbies, and activities that may deem them more qualified for the pursued position than their contest.




I know that I technically didn’t complete this task because two of the answer boxes are empty, but at this moment in time, I’m hoping to obtain some feedback from a trusted peer that will help me finish this effort. From my knowledge, I don’t have any significant academic achievements or credentials and I’ve never worked a job or placement relevant to the courses I’ll be applying to this year. If you read the screenshots inserted above, you’ll find plentiful exaggerated positivity but no lies – I’ve been blunt and upfront about who I am because I believe my personal experience has taught me lessons that will help me in education. Plus, despite all of the negative things that come with my identity, there is always a silver lining – in this instance, it makes me somewhat unique and provides me with a background that not a lot of people can relate to.
